Help and support
Diaconal work
We offer free and confidential counselling with diaconal workers (church social workers). You don’t have to be a Church member to ask for help. We have also English-speaking staff. They can help you with:
- Talking and emotional support
- Money problems or applying for help
- Relationships and family issues
- Addiction problems
- Help for immigrants and newcomers to Finland
Confession or spiritual guidance
You can talk anonymously online with a pastor via the Finnish Seamen’s Mission (available in English, Swedish, and German).

Learn Finnish
Luetaan yhdessä Groups
In the Read Together groups, participants practice speaking Finnish. The groups are open to everyone and participation is free of charge. You are welcome to bring your children with you. The groups are led by volunteers.

Immigrants’ Conversation and Homework Club
The group provides an opportunity to practice Finnish through simple conversations. You can also receive support with school homework. The group is led by volunteers.

Language Training
Come and learn Finnish through language training in our parish!
We have a limited number of places available.

Pastoral care for the sick
The Church visits people who are sick, in hospital, at home, in care homes. Pastors and diaconal workers can:
- Talk and pray with you
- Give emotional and spiritual support
- Help you stay connected with the Church
Hospital chaplains are specially trained, and available if you ask hospital staff. Volunteers may also visit the sick to talk, walk with them, or run small errands.
