Activities

Your local parish is much more than just Sunday worship. We offer many ways to be part of the community.

Multicultural Afternoons

Both immigrants and those who would like to make friends with people coming from abroad are welcome to Jokela Kotikirkko, Keskustie 2. We gather together once a month, and discuss topics chosen by the participants. Our aim is to get to know each others and our cultures and also to get to know Tuusula and the Finnish way of life. There are also activities for children. Available free tee, coffee and juice.

Finnish discussion groups

Welcome to practise Finnish language. Luetaan ydessä groups are free of charge and open for everybody. They are led by voluntary workers. More information: coordinator Salla Tieva: p.  045 8723929 salla.tieva@luetaanyhdessa.fi 

    Worship services

    You are always welcome at our services – whether you are a member of the Church or not. Most of the services are held in Finnish and some in Swedish.

    We hold a service at Tuusula Church every Sunday and on other church holidays at 10am. During major holidays (Christmas and Easter), the schedule may vary.

    Riihikirkko (Riihi Church) is held in Rihasali on the first and third Sundays of the month at 1pm. Rihasali is located in the Riihikallio service center (Pellavamäentie 5).

    At Jokela Home Church, services are generally held every Sunday at 1pm. An exception is the third Sunday of the month, when the service is held at 5pm.

    At Kellokoski Church, services are generally held every Sunday at 10am. An exception is the last Sunday of the month, when the service is held at 5pm.

    There are also special services on other days.

    For children and family

    We offer many free activities for families and children. Our activities are mainly in Finnish but you are more than welcome to join us. We want to protect childhood and support parenting and Christian education. We’re here for you and your family.

    For school-aged

    We organize fun events and clubs for school-aged children in Finnish. For more information:

    For youth

    We organize youth groups and evenings in different parts of Tuusula. There are also events, camps, and excursions for youth. In ROK training, you can qualify as a parish group leader (a confirmation camp leader). Our activities are in Finnish.

    For adults

    You don’t need to speak perfect Finnish to join! You’ll learn along the way. Activities for adults include for example:

    • Bible studies and prayer groups
    • Alpha courses (practical introduction to the basics of Christian faith)
    • Retreats for quiet reflection

    For elderly

    We offer a wide range of activities for elderly people. The activities are in Finnish, but you are warmly welcome to join. We organize, for example, gatherings and group activities in different parts of Tuusula, excursions, a camp in August, events and celebrations. Seniors are also invited to joint birthday celebrations held three times a year. The parish deacon for older adults visits senior service centers on request. More information:

    You can help in many ways, even if you’re new to Finland:

    • Visit and support elderly or sick people
    • Help at church events and camps
    • Join activity teams
